Attendance Requirements
South Carolina law requires a minimum of 120 hours of classroom instruction for a 1.0 credit course and 60 hours for a .5 credit course. Regular attendance is mandatory. Students will not be excused for trips, vacations, camps, conventions, etc. Students who miss more than (1) day (the equivalent of half day in a .5 credit course) will automatically be dropped from the summer school program.
Tardy Policy
Any student who is tardy to class five (5) times will be dropped from summer school.
THERE IS NO MAKE-UP TIME OR CREDIT RECOVERY IN SUMMER SCHOOL
Discipline
The summer program follows the guidelines of the regular school year. Three discipline infractions of any nature will result in dismissal from the summer school program. Students are expected to abide by the Discipline Code published by Richland County School District One. Zero tolerance behaviors (Level 3) and those defined as Level 2 offenses in the Richland One Discipline Code will result in dismissal from summer school and can involve law enforcement. Electronic devices are not allowed on campus and will be confiscated. Hats are not to be worn in the building. Time that a student misses for discipline infractions and/or meetings will count toward his/her class time.
Dress code
Students will dress in a respectful manner and in a manner that is not disruptive to the educational environment. Students in violation of dress code will be removed from class and time away from class counted.
No refunds will be given to students who are dropped from the Summer School Program for attendance or disciplinary reasons.
