RICHLAND ONE TO HOST 2009 COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPO

High school juniors and seniors are facing several inevitable questions about their future: What will I do after graduation? Should I go to a four year college or a technical school? Program Semi-finalists

You could call them a perfect 10! That’s the number of Richland One seniors named as semi-finalists in the prestigious and highly competitive 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program, which awards college scholarships to academically gifted students. Only one percent of U.S. high-school seniors qualify as National Merit semifinalists. Scholarship winners will be announced in the spring. More>>

Three Richland One Schools Receive Grant to Promote Fresh Fruits, Vegetables

How’s this for new school snack menu items: kumquats, ugli fruits, grapples, purple broccoli and red carrots? In an effort to get students to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, this fall Richland One will be offering these exotic delights and others on the school snack menus at Burton-Pack, John P. Thomas and Carver-Lyon elementary schools. A $75,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used to purchase the fresh produce. More>>

Richland One, Midlands Tech to Offer Fall Adult Ed Classes

Interested in a job in the medical field or need to sharpen your medical skills? This fall Richland One’s Office of Adult Education, in conjunction with Midlands Technical College, will be offering several courses. Training in becoming an EKG technician and certified nursing assistant are available as well as classes in medical terminology and phlebotomy. School Day To Start At 8:00 A.M. For High School Students

School will start at 8:00 a.m. instead of 8:15 a.m. for high-school students. The earlier start will give high-school students more instructional time during the school day. The school day will end at 3:15 p.m. for high schools, the same as last year’s dismissal time. More>>
