U.S. Surgeon General Visits
A.C. Moore Elementary School
Vice Admiral Richard H.
Carmona, U.S. Surgeon General, visited A.C.
Moore Elementary School on Wednesday, March
1, as part of his 50-state tour to encourage
students to make healthy life choices. Through
the 50 Schools in 50 States Initiative, the
Surgeon General will visit at least one school
in each of the 50 states, Washington, D.C.,
and Puerto Rico during his tenure to talk to
students about the dangers of risky behaviors,
such as underage drinking, smoking and obesity.
Dr. Carmona made brief remarks
and then took questions from the youngsters.
A.C. Moore is located at 333 Etiwan Avenue.
"We are just thrilled that A.C. Moore
was selected as his stop in South Carolina,"
said Principal Quantina Haggwood. "It
is indeed an honor and a privilege for our
school and Richland One."
