Career Quest Offers Richland
One Students A Fast Track to Job Information
Do you love your job? Did
you have any idea what profession you wanted
to pursue when you were in the 8th grade? What
if you could get a head start by talking to
professionals in various careers? Would that
impact your choice of classes for high school
and college?
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, Richland
One’s Career Quest program offers 2,000
eighth graders the opportunity to talk face-to-face
with SLED agents, police officers, manufacturers,
bankers, health care employees, and hundreds
of other workers. Career Quest gives teenagers
the fast track to information on salaries,
advancements, educational requirements, and
other important career factors. The goal of
Career Quest is to give middle-schoolers realistic
ideas about the working world as they make
decisions about what class subjects to pursue
during the transition into high school and
ultimately the working world.
Fort Jackson hosts Career Quest from 8:00
a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the Solomon Center
(formerly known as the Community Activity Center).
All Richland One eighth-graders attend the
event and they start arriving around 9:00 a.m.
