Richland One, Celebrity Chef to Celebrate Success of After-School Programs

Richland One will celebrate the success of its diverse and award-winning after-school programs during a special convocation at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 2 in the Gibbes Middle School auditorium, 500 Summerlea Drive.

WIS-TV personality Joe Pinner emcees the event which includes remarks by celebrity chef Janet Poleski, an advocate of healthy snacks for children. Poleski has been active in the Junior League’s Kids in the Kitchen Program which teaches youngsters how to make healthy treats and gives them recipes to take home. Kids in the Kitchen encourages children to make healthy lifestyle choices in an effort to reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its health-related illnesses.

The winners of the district’s 2009 Great Friend to After-school Awards also will be announced at the event. These honors are bestowed upon the individuals, businesses and organizations that have been outstanding supporters of Richland One after-school programs.

Richland One provides safe, affordable programs that thousands of busy, working families rely on for after-school care, tutoring, homework assistance, test preparation, enrichment, remedial assistance and fun.
