Richland One Goes Green!

Richland One is ready for the Big Switch! Starting this fall Richland One schools and administrative buildings will make the switch to environmentally-friendly cleaning products as part of the district’s new "green" cleaning program.

On Thursday, August 14, district custodial managers will get a hands-on demonstration of the new cleaning products and equipment at a training session in the Dreher High School cafeteria. Media interested in covering the demonstrations are invited to attend at 10 a.m.

Custodial staff will check out green-certified vacuum cleaners and scrubbers, as well as the latest cleaning products. The use of these products and equipment is expected to reduce asthma and allergy symptoms of students and staff.

This summer the products were tested at about a dozen district schools. Maintenance service managers were so pleased with the cleaning power, cost and other benefits of the green cleaners that they decided to use the products throughout the district this fall.
