NASA Specialist to Visit Richland One School

Satellites, planetary probes and other NASA projects will be the hot topics on the minds of students and teachers at Forest Heights Elementary School next week.

NASA aerospace specialist Dynae Fullwood will visit Forest Heights August 4-5 to share information on the agency’s latest projects, to encourage students to get excited about science, math and technology, and to show teachers how to make those subjects more interesting and challenging for their students.

Fullwood’s presentation on Tuesday, August 4 will include a live link to NASA’s Langley Space Research Center in Virginia. On Wednesday, August 5, fifth-grade students will do hands-on workshops with her.

Forest Heights is an official NASA Explorer school, a special partnership which allows NASA to provide programs and opportunities to encourage students to get involved in the study of math, science and technology.

Aerospace specialists are former classroom teachers trained in the principles of NASA. They visit schools across the nation to share NASA’s goals and ideals.

Forest Heights, Richland One’s year-round school, is located at 2500 Blue Ridge Terrace. For more information please contact the Richland One Office of Communications at 231-7504 or 231-7510.
