Sportsarama 2008 to Kick-off Football Season in Richland One

Sportsarama, that Southern tradition that kicks off the beginning of the high school football season, will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium, 100 Airport Boulevard. Admission is $5.

Richland One and the Richland Sertoma Club invite the community to its 48th annual football jamboree which includes a lineup of seven district teams. Eau Claire, C.A. Johnson, Lower Richland, A.C. Flora, Dreher, Columbia and Keenan high schools will test each other’s resolve on the gridiron in four games. Teams will play two 10-minute quarters. The Sportsarama matchup includes the following teams:

Game 1: C.A. Johnson vs. Whitmire at 6:00 p.m.
Game 2: Eau Claire vs. Lower Richland at 6:45 p.m.
Game 3: Dreher vs. Keenan at 7:30 p.m.
Game 4: Columbia vs. A.C. Flora at 8:15 p.m.

Football skills won’t be the only competitive action at this year’s event. The Sertoma Club will crown Mr. and Miss Sportsarama (based on academic and school/community involvement) and present awards for spirit, band and cheerleading.
