School Supply Drive To Benefit Richland One Students

A Citywide School Supply Drive will be held on Wednesday, June 25, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Earlewood Park, 111 Parkside Drive. Donated school supplies will go to Richland One students.

The school supply drive is a collaborative effort of Together We Can and Councilwoman Tameika Devine’s annual Celebration in the Park. Every year a different charity is chosen. Among those selected in the past are the P.O.W.E.R. Center, Fan the Heat, KOBAN, Harmony and the TN Development Corp.

"Together We Can was chosen this year because it is essential that the City focus on the betterment of our youth and our schools," Devine said. "We want to collect school supplies for students in Richland One for the upcoming school year."

The Together We Can initiative is spearheaded by the City of Columbia, Richland One, the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Partners in Education Foundation as an effort to enhance the quality of life and educational opportunities of all students in Richland One.

The goal is to improve student achievement, promote the district’s successes and encourage the Columbia business community to become more involved in the efforts of Richland One schools. The motto is "Columbia and Richland One: Together We Can Build a Better Community."

Persons who are unable to make it to the Celebration in the Park on June 25 may drop off their school supply donations at any of the following locations:

* Jabber and Isaac, PA, 722 King Street

* Isaac State Farm Agency, 1920 Bull Street

* City Hall (1737 Main Street) during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday through June 25
