Community Meeting to Discuss Rezoning of Historic Monteith School

On Monday, June 16 the Richland One Office of Facility Services will host a community meeting to discuss the rezoning of the historic Monteith School, one of first African-American schools in Richland County.

Representatives of the Eau Claire Community Council and the Booker T. Washington Foundation will make presentations at 6 p.m. in the café of Sanders Middle School, 136 Alida Street. The two organizations are seeking rezoning so that they can refurbish the school and convert it into a museum and community center. Renovation and rezoning plans for the building will be discussed at the meeting.
