New Mentoring Program Offered
The 100 Black Men of Greater Columbia, Inc. has teamed with Richland School District One to offer the "Saturday Leadership Academy," which is a life-long mentoring program. The program sessions will be held at Heyward Career and Technology Center.
The Academy will focus its work toward middle and high school African-American makes who need support in defining their leadership abilities. Young men selected for the program will gain character enrichment, life skills training, and support in the areas of:
Making Good Decisions
Building Good Character
Self-Esteem and Mutual Respect
Personal Discipline and Self-Control
Understanding your History and how it affects you today
The Importance of Education
Goal Setting / Personal planning / Time Management
Getting a Job
Citizenship

To learn more about the program, parents and their middle and high school-aged make students are invited to attend an hour-long orientation on January 13 & 15, 2009 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Center at Heyward Career and Technology Center, 3560 Lynhaven Drive, Columbia, SC 29204.
