Richland One 2004 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Gala

The Partners In Education Foundation presented the inaugural Richland One Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Gala on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The first eight members of the Richland One Hall of Fame were inducted during the black-tie event:  former astronaut Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Charles F. Bolden Jr.;  Miss America 1994 Kimberly Aiken Cockerham; former SCETV President Henry J. Cauthen; the Rev. Joseph A. Darby, NAACP leader and pastor of Morris Brown AME Church in Charleston; Sonoco CEO Harris E. DeLoach Jr.; the late Cornell Alvin Johnson, former supervisor of schools; Nobel Prize-winning chemist Dr. Kary B. Mullis; and former Richland One Superintendent Dr. John R. Stevenson. BellSouth was the title sponsor of the inaugural Hall of Fame gala.
 
Richland Cadet Squadron SC-802 of the Civil Air Patrol presented the colors at the beginning of the Hall of Fame gala.
 
 
WIS TV anchor Craig Melvin, a graduate of Columbia High, served as the master of ceremonies for the evening.
 
Miss America 1994 Kimberly Aiken Cockerham, a Columbia High graduate, was one of the eight persons inducted into the Richland One Hall of Fame during the gala.
