Richland County District One Mission Statement

Richland One will prepare every student to be a successful, contributing citizen in a global society by providing an effective and high quality education.

The Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Program is the Federal Government’s primary vehicle for reducing drug, alcohol and tobacco use, and violence, through education and prevention activities in our nation’s schools.

The purpose of the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) program is to support comprehensive prevention programs that: (1) prevent violence in and around schools; (2) prevent illicit alcohol, tobacco, and drug use; (3) involve parents and communities; and (4) coordinate with related federal, state, and local efforts and resources to foster safe and drug-free schools and communities as required by the Principles of Effectiveness.

The Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools serves 45 traditional public schools, three learning centers, and 12 private and charter schools in the Richland One school zone.

Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities funded programs are coordinated with other available prevention efforts to maximize the impact of violence prevention programs and resources available to the local educational agencies (LEA) or community, and operates under the Principles of Effectiveness.
